Transgender And Gender Nonbinary Issues
Transgender & Gender Nonbinary Issues
“Leap into the boundless and make it your home.”
— Chuang Tzu
You never need to prove to me that you are trans. I affirm however you identify. I only ask that you demonstrate thoughtfulness in your decisionmaking.
Whatever term(s) you use – transgender, nonbinary, trans man, trans woman, trans masc or trans femme, Two-Spirit, androgynous/androgene, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, detransitioner/retransitioner, even as a gender unicorn and more – we are all individuals called to examine gender, a process that can be deeply personal and private. Like so many of us, you’ve probably endured shame, depression, anxiety, isolation, and maybe even violence.
Like you, I know these firsthand.
Gender is an arena through which we can attain personal insight, achieve joyous relationships, and explore questions of meaning. Being trans or nonbinary need not be about brokenness and victimization; I can help you make empowered choices not about how you have to live, but how you want to live. With luck – and a little help – we can all experience gender euphoria.
Or you may have already resolved your trans issues and seek therapy for other areas of your life. Unlike mainstream providers I do not assume that gender underlies your current stressors.
I bring an in-depth awareness of the history of the medicalization of trans identity, and I practice according to affirmative, client-centered, trans-positive, and Informed Consent philosophies of care.
Trans. Visible. Unapologetic.
“For me, the transgender thing is the reality of my life. It’s the reality of my existence and it’s something that I’ve come to believe is beautiful about me.”
— Laverne Cox
